Tammareddy Speaks Openly About Industry Reality
Chiranjeevi recently said that the casting couch does not exist in the Telugu film industry, senior producer and director Tammareddy Bharadwaja shared a different opinion.
Tammareddy, who has worked on many films and also collaborated with Chiranjeevi in his early days said that harassment of women has been a long-standing issue and should not be ignored.
He stated that some people produce films not because they love cinema, but to misuse their power and exploit women during casting.
He explained that things were more disciplined in the early days, but later changed as people with wrong intentions entered the industry. Tammareddy said the situation improved during his active years though 5 to 10 percent of women still faced harassment.
Speaking about the present, he noted that nearly 200 films are made every year and alleged that some producers enter filmmaking only for exploitation while genuine filmmakers stay away from such practices.
